WHAT TO EXPECT

My goal is to eliminate any concerns you have about how I can help, the following explains your first few visits and hopefully changes common misconceptions about treatment.

Since chiropractic care involves a series of visits, with each one building on the ones before, it’s important that our relationship can go the distance. I’ve found the best ways to have successful patient relationships is to explain everything in advance. No surprises!

The more you understand who we are, what we do and why we do it, the better results you’ll enjoy. It’s as simple as that.

So, check us out here. look around. Get to know us. Then, contact us to make an appointment so we can get to know you.

First visit

Paperwork

You will be warmly welcomed and made to feel at home. Help is on its way! Your First visit will include a greeting from our Chiropractic Assistant (C.A), who will give you some paperwork to fill out, don’t worry it is only 1 page long!

Comprehensive Consultation

The Chiropractor will meet you and take you into the room to discuss your problem. Careful questioning to gleam the important information about what is wrong and how it is affecting you.

Thorough Examination

This is followed up with physical testing (orthopedic tests), neurological tests and palpation tests (touching the spine or area that is affected).

Neurological patients will have a complex and detailed Neurological examination, but don’t worry it is non invasive and non painful. It is designed to bring out your neurological problem so that a rehabilitation program can be designed for you.

If deemed necessary an x-ray or MRI may be requested.

If you have a new acute injury, there will be some treatment on the first day.

If you are a chronic patient (had the problem building for a while) you will be given some pretreatment advise (icing, stretching, exercises) and your next visit will be the first treatment/adjustment day.

Allow for 30 minutes for your first visit.

Second visit

Report of Findings
Your second visit is called your Report of Findings, the Chiropractor will give you a detailed explanation of your exam and your treatment plan to come. The Chiropractor will take time to ensure that you understand what is wrong, how it happened, and how long it will take to fix.

This is a Healing Process
From the start you will understand that this is a healing process which takes time. Not a quick fix/once off adjustment/treatment. There are a lot of ideas out there about Chiropractic and what it fixes and how long treatment last for. The Chiropractor will explain all of this and then you will start your first treatment

Neurological Exercises

Neurological Exercises are quite complex and you will not leave until you are happy that you understand and can perform the neurological rehabilitation exercises.

Allow 20 minutes for the Report of Findings and 10 minutes for the treatment.

Our C.A will then make your next planned appointments and take payment by cash cheque or Eftpos/Creditcard.

Your Regular visits will not be as long as your first or second visits to Koru Chiropractic.

Regular visit

Your Program of Care
Once you have started your program of care, your regular visits will be similar to each other. Most new cases require 10 to 14 visits in phase 1 of treatment. Depending on your injury you may have more or a slightly more intensive treatment program.

We will greet you in reception, bring you into the room, discuss briefly how your symptoms have changed, answer any questions about your stretches or first aid care that you may have, and then followed up with a Chiropractic Adjustment.

Post Adjusting Checks

Post adjusting checks are made to make sure that your nervous system has made some changes to your problem and then follow up advise, or further care instructions are given.

Our C.A will take payment and make sure your next appointment slots still suit you.

By the way, if this approach makes as much sense to you as it does to us, we’d like an opportunity to meet you and discuss your options in person.
